Dear Senior Parents:

As the school year draws to a close, we are finalizing plans for the celebration of your student’s high school career.  The Marian Central administration, faculty, and staff would like to congratulate the Class of 2019 for their diligence and dedication to their Catholic education.

This letter is to inform you of the year end schedule of events and expectations for all seniors through the remainder of the year.

Friday, May 3 – Honors Day & Graduation Practice – After their 7th period classes, seniors will report to Landers Pavilion for Honors Day and Graduation practice.  All seniors are required to attend this practice. They will receive their caps and gowns at this time.

MAY 3rd.  No late/incomplete forms will be accepted after 3:00 pm on Friday, May 3rd.

Friday, May 17 – Honors Day Assembly – At 8:40 a.m. the seniors will report to the auxiliary gym to dress in their caps and gowns. The Honors Day Assembly begins at 9:00 a.m. in Landers Pavilion and should conclude by 11:15 a.m.  Following the Assembly, DeWane Studios will take a photo of each student in their cap and gown. If you are interested in purchasing this photo, please return the linked order form with payment on Honors Day. The Photo Order Form is linked here for your convenience too. Parents are welcome to join us for this ceremony.  It is a dress up day for seniors, and after the assembly and photos, seniors will be dismissed for the remainder of the day.  All seniors are required to leave the building upon dismissal from the Honors Day celebration.

Monday, May 20– Senior Breakfast – Seniors will meet at 8:15 a.m. in the school cafeteria for breakfast. We ask that students arriving to the school prior to this start time, please gather in the GYM COMMONS to prevent hall congestion outside the cafeteria. This event is for students only.  School uniforms do not need to be worn.  After breakfast, they will go to the auditorium to view the senior video and give out Senior Tributes, etc.  Seniors will be dismissed for the day after the presentations in the auditorium. All seniors are required to leave the building upon the conclusion of Senior Breakfast/Video celebrations.   This event is for senior students only.

Thursday, May 23rd – Baccalaureate Mass – at 7:00 p.m. in Landers Pavilion.  All parents and family members are invited to this Eucharistic celebration.  Formal Mass dress attire is appropriate. Students will sit with their families.

Friday, May 24th – Graduation – at 7:00 p.m. in Landers Pavilion. Seniors will report to the auxiliary gym by 6:15 p.m. with their caps and gowns. After Graduation, graduates must turn in their gowns before they can pick up diplomas from their homeroom teachers in the auxiliary gym. No tickets are issued for the ceremony.  Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

DeWane Studios will be taking pictures of the graduates receiving their diplomas. A complimentary 4 x 6 photo will be provided to each graduate. During the Graduation ceremony, any pictures taken by family or friends are to be taken from your seats.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Formal attire is required for the Honors Day and Graduation ceremonies. Ladies are required to wear dress shoes and a dress, dress slacks or a skirt.  Gentlemen must wear dress pants, a white dress shirt, and a tie that will complement the gown and dress pants.  Dress shoes and socks are required for the gentlemen as well. Jeans, shorts, skorts, Capri pants, Khaki pants and other casual attire are not allowed on any student, and tennis shoes and flip-flops are not acceptable attire.

During Graduation and the Baccalaureate Mass, we request appropriate and respectful conduct by all involved. The formal and dignified nature of the ceremonies demands that we conduct ourselves with the utmost dignity, and that we display the same reverence we bring into the church for Sunday Mass. We all want to participate in ceremonies that reflect the values that are so important to you and to Marian Central Catholic High School.  I thank you for your help and your cooperation in this area as well. It promises to be an inspiring Honors Day, beautiful Mass, and memorable Graduation ceremony. Bishop David Malloy will be present for our Graduation ceremony.

This is an exciting time for students and parents alike.  We thank you for your family’s commitment to Catholic education and to Marian Central.  We are grateful to have had the opportunity to teach and to serve your family these four years. We value the relationships we have developed with each and every student.  While your student’s time at Marian Central has come to a close, your student and your family will always be a part of the Marian Central family. May God bless us all with His care, protection, and love.
