Semifinalist Student in the 2019 National Merit® Scholarship Program
Ms. Debra Novy, Principal of Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, IL announced today that Joseph Noonan was officially named a Semifinalist in the National Merit® Scholarship Program. The National Merit® Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Being among approximately 16,000 semifinalists, this Marian Central Catholic senior will have an opportunity to continue in the process and hope to be among the finalists who will be going after National Merit® Scholarships worth approximately $31 million.
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Over 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
The Marian Central Community is looking forward to the announcement of the winners beginning in the spring of 2019. Best of luck to our semifinalist!
We at Marian Central Catholic High School are very proud of this and all our students who continue to raise the standards of excellence in our academic community.
