  • 6 McHenry County Catholic Schools are represented in the Marian student body: Montini Catholic School, St. Margaret Mary, SS. Peter and Paul, St. Thomas the Apostle, St. Mary and St. John the Baptist; 18 public junior highs; as well as 5 private elementary schools.
Academic Credit Requirements

Marian Central requires twenty-four credits for graduation distributed as follows: Credits per Department:

  • 4 English
  • 4 Theology
  • 2 Foreign Language, Art or Music
  • 3 Science (Biology Included)
  • 3 Mathematics
  • 3 Social Studies (.5 Consumer Economics, .5 Government, US History)
  • 3 Physical Education/Health/First Aid
  • 2 Electives
Tuition Assistance
There are two types of programs: a) the work/job program; and b) the Fr. Joseph Egan Financial Aid Grant program. Both programs require families to complete an application and submit it to a third party with whom the school contracts to confidentially analyze family need. Grants are based solely upon demonstrated need. The maximum assistance from the Fr. Egan program is three-fifths of the tuition of a family from a participating parish. The job program earnings reduce a family’s tuition by approximately $1000 per student. Families can apply for either of the programs or both.
Transportation Options

Transportation options include: a) PACE buses between McHenry, Wonder Lake and Marian; between Crystal Lake and Marian; and between Harvard and Marian; b) Contracted school buses between Marian and the following communities – Marengo, Huntley, Algonquin, Lake In The Hills, Crystal Lake, Oakwood Hills, Cary, Johnsburg, Spring Grove, Richmond, and Hebron; c) Woodstock District 200 buses for families residing within the district; and d) carpooling

Post Graduation Plans & College Scholarships
Of the 92 members of the Class of 2022, 95.6% of the class, upon graduation, enrolled in college, 2.2% joined the military, 1.1% entered the workforce and 1.1% were undecided. The class members as a whole earned over $20.7 million in college scholarships.
Conference Affiliation

During the 2022-2023 school year, Marian Central athletics is operating as an independent school within the IHSA, we will join the Chicagoland Christian Conference (CCC) in the Fall of 2023.

The conference will consist of: Aurora Christian (Aurora), Bishop McNamara (Kankakee), Chicago Christian (Palos Heights), Christ the King (Chicago), Hope Academy (Chicago), Marian Central (Woodstock), St. Edward (Elgin), Timothy Christian (Elmhurst), and Wheaton Academy (Wheaton).
