The best way for prospective students to experience a day in the life of a Hurricane is to shadow a current Marian Central student. Prospective students will attend Marian Central classes, enjoy complimentary lunch and meet our teachers and students. Shadow days are reserved for 7th and 8th grade students or high school students interested in transferring to Marian Central and are designed for students who have yet to decide on their high school choice.

Experience Marian Central Catholic at Marian Showcase! Families will hear from current parents and students before experiencing a Marian student’s schedule, visiting academic departments and meeting the faculty who make the Marian experience possible. The afternoon concludes with our Co-Curricular Fair, where you can explore Marian’s athletics, clubs and activities.
Please plan to attend the full experience from 1:00–3:30 PM.
All 8th-grade students interested in attending Marian Central Catholic High School are required to take Marian Central’s placement test, PreACT 8/9, on Saturday, December 5, 2026.
The PreACT 8/9 is not an entrance exam and does not determine admission to Marian Central. The assessment helps us determine appropriate course placement and better understand each incoming student’s academic strengths and needs.

Please note: If your child attends one of the six McHenry Deanery Catholic schools (Montini, SS. Peter and Paul, St. John, St. Margaret Mary, St. Mary, or St. Thomas), they will take the placement test at their current school and do not need to register for or attend the December 5 test at Marian Central Catholic.
Each student and their parents will meet with a Marian Central registrar for assistance in your student’s selection of required and elective courses. The HSPT score, along with grades and standardized test scores are taken into consideration when recommending course placement. Additional information will be sent regarding registration to students who participate in our placement test in December.
